Overview

dk Software provides business management solutions to thousands of users across its product portfolio, including the flagship dk ERP platform, dk Lite, and dk POS. As the product range grew, so did the cost of quality gaps. Regression bugs and customization defects reaching production too often, and the team lacked a structured end-to-end QA process to catch them earlier.

HBM was brought in to build that process from the ground up, starting with a new project built on top of dk POS and scaling the practice across the wider organization. A dedicated QA engineers, led by an experienced Delivery Manager, is embedded directly within dk's development squads.

Alongside the core QA engagement, we also carried out specialized encryption testing on sensitive ERP data to validate its integrity after a recent encryption initiative.

Client Needs and Challenges:

dk Software was shipping multiple products without a repeatable quality gate, and a new dk POS project made that gap impossible to ignore.  

Challenges shaped the project scope:

  • Fast testing results. The dk POS project was already in active development. We needed to stand up a functioning QA capability and integrate it into the existing sprint cadence without slowing delivery.
  • A QA framework that scales beyond one project. dk needed a repeatable QA model that could be adopted across teams and products, with processes, standards, and tooling that hold up at an organizational level.
  • Tightening Agile execution. The team was already working in Scrum, but there was room to sharpen ceremonies, improve collaboration, and streamline the delivery pipeline. QA needed to fit naturally into that rhythm.
  • Testing of encryption of ERP data with minimal documentation. dk had recently encrypted sensitive data within its ERP system. Testing it required deep technical knowledge and creative problem-solving, because documentation was limited and standard approaches wouldn't suffice.

HBM served as dk Software's dedicated quality engineering partner, responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling a structured QA practice across their product development organization.

Software Testing

We built testing coverage from scratch for the new dk POS project, designing detailed test cases and checklists that spanned all functional areas of the application. Ongoing functional and regression testing became a standard part of each sprint, with our team identifying the vast majority of defects before they reached production.

Test Management

Beyond execution, we developed a comprehensive test strategy that defined objectives, methodologies, and tooling. This included advising on Jira configuration to properly support QA workflows and introducing transparent quality metrics and continuous monitoring to give dk's leadership real visibility into product readiness.

ERP Encryption Testing

We designed a tailored testing approach for dk's recently encrypted ERP data, working through complex system layers with limited documentation. This effort surfaced several critical issues early, well before they could affect production environments or end users.

Outcomes

The engagement delivered a measurable improvement in product quality and gave dk Software the foundation for a sustainable, organization-wide QA practice.
